I decided to do something differently today. No music video with singing involve but rather dancing. First video up, is gothic, vampire belly dancing by Sereena. I love it and she moves really well. Look at those wings. Second video is Noemi and Alice performing with Isis Wings. Both performers are really great and I love the shimmering wings.
One of my favorite music group is Shiny Toy Guns. I really love Chad Petree’s vocals and Jeremy Dawson keyboard playing. I like the overall synthetic feel of their music. Plus, I like the addition of the female vocalist whether it be Carah or Sisely. I think both of them are really good singers, they might sing differently but they are both good. My favorite song has always been “You Are The One.” That’s the first video. Second video is a fan video which I really like. The song is called “Stripped.” I love the girl’s movement throughout the video.
You Are The One (First song I heard from STG)
Stripped (It’s actually a cover from a Depeche Mode and I like both versions)

I promised the Good Charlotte concert and I will half-deliver. It was during spring break and I was in San Francisco at The Regency Ballroom. It was really fun but then again, concerts are meant to be fun and entertaining. Forever the Sickest Kids was supposed to opened for them but they were replace by This Century. They were good but I have never heard of them before.
Following This Century was a local band called The Relay Company. It was so weird cause I was not expecting a second band to play. Not only that but the band was moving around the instruments and setting up to do the concert. At first, I thought they were crew members. They were really good. I did not know any of the songs but I loved them. As soon as the concert was over, I bought their CD. It is a really good album “Love Me, Hate Me” and constantly plays in my apartment. The songs I enjoyed the most are Marco Polo, Remedy, and Next Floor . This is where the sad part happens. I got bumped into and I was not expecting it. I dropped my camera and the screen went white. Now, it does not work. So sad.
I absolutely have no pictures of Good Charlotte to show. However, I can say that Good Charlotte had a great interaction with the audience. Benji and Joel kept the crowd entertain with stories and little comic, sibling interactions. Some of the songs they played were Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, I Just Wanna Live, Emotionless (acoustic), Dance Floor Anthem, The Anthem, Like It’s Her Birthday, Hold On, Girls and Boys and so many more. I absolutely had a great time and so did my brother.
Originally, this was going to be a Thor AMV post because I saw the movie on Friday night and I actually stayed up after watching it, looking for AMVs but none were to my liking. So I went with another T name. Taking Back Sunday, one of my favorite bands. The first video is a Naruto AMV that is well mixed with the “MakeDamSure” video. Second video, is the video for their new single “El Paso” from Taking Back Sunday that is out on June 28.
I consider this my first official concert because UCR Heat have been free for me. I paid to see Emilie Autumn and it was so worth it. I love her and her stage acts plus the Crumpets.
The concert started with 4’ o Clock. Amazing song. I cannot recall all the songs in order but I just remember the ones I love. I remember Opheliac was soon after that because that’s the first video on my camera. She took off her mask while singing this song.
I remember the performance for I Want My Innocence Back which is one of my favorite song. Love the magic trick she does. She has a scarf that turns to like a candy cane staff.
Of course, my true favorite song is 306 which is a great but creepy song. Love the lyrics. The creepy part yet extremely beautiful is the last three minutes of the song which is used to simulate the time it takes for a person to drown. Contessa’s aerial fabric dance was so beautiful. She builds up the suspense so wonderfully that when she falls, it is the most exciting part. This is really my favorite performance follow by I Want My Innocence Back.
The Art of Suicide, Mad Girl, Dead Is The New Alive, Liar, Thank God I’m Pretty and a few more songs are the songs she sung. Veronica did her feather dance and Captain Maggot did her hula hoop routine. It was a great concert. Emilie had such a great interaction with the crowd and the Crumpets. One of the greatest moments there was when Captain Maggot crowd surf and she grabbed my hand. This wasn’t just I touched her, she literally grabbed my hand with a good grip. It was amazing. Plus, when a bra was thrown at Emilie, she took it with stride and laughed. She was amazing. I cannot repeat that word enough. She is amazing.
It has taken me awhile to post about the concert. It was a fantastic night musically. I saw three bands; The Dirtyheads, Travis McCoy, and Against Me (in that order). They were all amazing.
The Dirtyheads were the first to play. They were actually pretty good and had great interaction with the audience. Unfortunately since it has been a month, I cannot recall what songs they actually played besides “Lay Me Down.” I think the lead singer looks like Jay from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Travis McCoy was next and he was actually pretty cool. He dressed in layers so throughout his performance he would take off an article of clothing. Funny. My one problem was that the band took too many instrumentals break to let Travis talk. He talked…a lot.
Where McCoy talked too much, Against Me did not even say “Hello” and I think they said “Good night” or they simply finished and walked off the stage. I cannot recall. They put me off a little but I quickly forgot it because they had the best music energy. They were all over the stage and played fantastically (that’s a word, right?) Plus, they are one of my favorite bands.
As you can see, the Dirty Heads were the best band there. Perfect balance between communication with the audience and their music. Travis communicated too much and Against Me rarely communicated at all. I have way more pictures of Against Me than I do of anyone else. I really love them. Not great communicators but love them.
Well, I’m excited to be back and doing Rocking Saturday. This time around we have Valentine starting off April. I do not know much about her except that she is German and has three albums out. I do know I really like the video for “Black Sheep” which is what sold me on her and make me look further into her music. The song is from her third album Love Like Gold. I love all the references to the fairytales-Beauty and The Beast, Cinderella, Snow White and even some references that are not fairytales. When I see her in the water, I see Ophelia from Hamlet; In the boat, maybe Lady Shallot from the poem. It is a really well done video. Interesting enough, her website says the video is about “a girl that threatens to slip into the red light district.” The lyrics match the theme but the video does not. What do you guys think? I think I am a little distracted because I love the video visually, especially the red dress. The second video is from her debut album Ocean Full of Tears and the song has the same title. I love how the video is black and white yet has splashes of color.
Official website: Valentine (word of advice: The website is in German. I don’t speak German but thankfully Google does cause he translated it).
I’m super excited for Heat. I have been listening to some of the artists attending. These have been some of the songs I have listened to. They are very different.
As it turns out, I actually knew Infected Mushroom before because of this song. I had an international music channel and I thought it was kind of dumb, the people beating themselves up but then I got uncomfortable as the video progresses. I’m inching away as the guy get his broken tooth. I could never remember who sang this song or the name, but I remember the video.
This C.C. Sheffield. She has two versions of this song. One is a remix by DJ Tiesto and this original version. Not sure on how it goes to running in the streets to fighting but all right.
Today, I just got my tickets to go see Emilie Autumn at the Rey Theater in Los Angeles on March 3. I’m so excited to go see her and honestly, I already wish February was over just so I can go see her. She is my favorite musician because I just love her style and lyrics. Her music is really interesting to say the least. On stage, she appears to have a great personality. Can’t wait for March 3.
The second concert I’m attending is UCR Heat. I have to admit I’m disappointed with the appearance of the ticket. Last year, the ticket was an actual concert ticket but this year, it’s more a like plastic card that you put on your key chains. It sucks because I’m not going to have a copy. I like to have copies so they can be added to my wall/collages. It sucks but I’m excited to see Against Me, The Dirty Heads and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus; These are the ones I want to see. Also performing at UCR are Lil Jon, Travie McCoy, DJ Hyphy Crunk, CC Sheffield, Party Crash, Congorock and Infected Mushroom. some of the performers I have heard before and some of them I haven’t so it’s time to look them up so I can decide which of three stages I’m going to head to.
See, the tickets are different. I prefer last year’s ticket.
Rocking Saturday is proud to present you The Vaccines. They are an alternative band from the UK. So far, I’m really liking their music. I couldn’t find an AMV for them so that’s why I said in the first Rocking Saturday, that I was going to try to find one. Sometimes I succeed, other times I fall miserably.
Blow It Up is a live performance. The song reminds me of a 60’s song or similar to The Ramones (well, some songs).
Post Break Up Sex is not the official video but it’s a live performance. I prefer not to watch commercials so that’s why it’s not the official video but it’s still really good.
Plus, they have their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? coming out soon on March 21, 2011.
